
The Kari and Jerry duo began their musical journey in 1982, performing at various hotel lounges across the “Holiday Inn circuit” for several years, typically working 49-50 weeks annually. In the mid-1990s, they relocated to Las Vegas, where their stay proved highly successful, leading them to perform at numerous prestigious casinos in Reno and surrounding cities. Notably, they spent two years as the house band at the Suncoast Casino and Resort Hotel in Las Vegas.
Throughout their career, the duo has diversified their performances, playing at country clubs, corporate events, private parties, bars, and securing numerous contracts with Carnival and Princess Cruise Lines.
Kari, a native of Texas, nurtured her singing aspirations from a young age, joining her brother’s band, The Junior Americans, at the tender age of eight. At the age of eleven, she emerged victorious in a talent contest, which culminated in a recording contract with GM Records in Gladewater, Texas. The initial recordings were undertaken at GM Studio and ultimately, in Nashville under the guidance of the renowned Jimmy Bryant. Kari’s debut album was produced by Jimmy Bryant and featured collaborations with some of Nashville’s most esteemed session musicians.
During her teenage years, Kari became a regular performer on the Louisiana Hayride, Grapevine Opry, and participated in package shows alongside renowned stars of the era. Her appearance at the Gregg County Fair in Longview, Texas, shattered attendance records, attracting an impressive 5,000 spectators. Kari’s band was a staple at the legendary Reo Palm Isle in Longview. Additionally, she has garnered dedicated fan bases in both the United States and Scotland.
Growing up in Texas, Jerry’s musical influences encompassed a diverse range of genres, including blues and the music of Chet Atkins. His early influences extended to The Beatles, Johnny Winter, Billy Gibbons, Freddy King, Jimmy Reed, and of course, Stevie Ray Vaughan. During the 1960s, music was not as categorized as it is today. Blues, rock, and soul were all intermingled within the same musical framework. Jerry’s guitar skills matured over time through his experiences in performing and recording. He spent several years as a staff guitarist and session tracks programmer for Sulphur Springs Sound recording studio in Texas. Jerry is a highly skilled guitarist, vocalist, and keyboardist. He also plays the harmonica and serves as the musical programmer for the duo. His guitar playing is a testament to his Texas roots.
